Fundraiser for S.M.A.R.T. of Central Oregon
Kai Strand, author of The Weaver and KC Snider, children's books illustrator, both from Guardian Angel Publishing participated at this event. It was held at Aspen Hall in Shevlin Park. KC contributed a litho print of "Short Stop" in one of Fred's barn wood frames for their auction. The auctioneer was a local favorite, Dennis Thurman. Bob Shaw from KTVZ 21 News was the MC. KC's painting auctioned for $225. She sold $140 in her children's books, most for donations by the Buyers to the S.M.A.R.T. program. Kai also sold some of her books that were donated that night. The S.M.A.R.T. volunteers were overjoyed at this idea and both Kai and KC started to be swamped by avid buyers wanting to donate. This is the first annual fundraiser for our S.M.A.R.T. program and is expected to grow exponentially over the next few years.
